About this tour

Nyungwe national park is found in south western part of Rwanda bordering Burundi .The park covers the total area of 1020 square KM  . Nyungwe national park is the home of OVER 500 chimpanzees that roam in the forest and other more 13 primates  not forgetting the troops of colombus monkeys  that can be tracked as well and over 300 species of birds with Its  huge area of mountain rainforest .

Itinerary

Early morning pick up from Kigali international airport or hotel of residence in Kigali by Company representative/guide/driver, he will do short brief about the 6-7 hour’s drive journey with lunch en-route  to Nyungwe forest national park. The park is located in south west Rwanda where you will be able to see beautiful landscapes, tea plantations, hills ,proceed to the park and connect to your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

one and only Nyungwe forest lodge, mantis hotel ( luxury), Nyungwe top hill view lodge (Mid- range) and Gisakura visitors center (Budget )

You will enjoy an early morning breakfast and go for briefing where you will be advised the Rules and regulations of Trekking chimpanzees before entering the forest to start the trek adventure in Nyungwe forest national park (Cyamudongo chimps group) that takes 3-4 hours. The time taken to find the chimps cannot be predicated as they are moving from place to place, however chimpanzees are easy to spot as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing, you spend a maximum of one hour of following them around as they go about their normal lives. Meeting the chimpanzees in the wild is a great experience. The chimps are very active primates always moving from tree to tree so sometimes you are trying to catch up with them. They communicate by way of loud pant hoots, deafening screams and thunderous hitting of the tree barks, causing the hairs on your body to rise as you feel a rush of adrenaline…or call it catching fear! After the amazing journey you will return back to your lodge lunch.

Later connect for canopy walk experience in the afternoon. You will go on walking trail that will take you to canopy walk Swing Bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will  able to see the amazing rainforest  with bird eye view , spot wildlife moving below   and later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay

After RELAXED breakfast on the last day of the safari, check out of the lodge and met you guide driver to transfer back to Kigali city or Kigali international airport, On your way you will have lunch en-route Continue to Kigali reaching in the evening
